BIOGRAPHY
To the connoisseurs of jazz and tap dance the name of Tobias Tak is synonymous with a performance of classic song and dazzling rhythm tap. Since training with the masters of rhythm tap in New York, Tobias has travelled globally, appearing with the legendary Nicholas Brothers, Gregory Hines, Bryan Ferry, Frankie Manning, Wayne Sleep, Paco Peña, Jools Holland, Humphrey Lyttelton and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. In London he has performed as a soloist at major venues such as Sadler’s Wells, the World Expo 2000 in Hannover, the Royal Festival Hall, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, The Palladium (Angela Rippon’s all-star show in aid of the Red Cross) and The Lyceum.

Tobias’ shows have been performed all over the UK and Europe. His skills have also been seen on television, for example: Pebble Mill, The Chart Show, 01 for London in the UK, Aktuelle Stunde for WDR in Germany and RTL4 in Holland. More recently Tobias has appeared in the feature film Vacuums from the directors of the theatre company Stomp.


CHOREOGRAPHY

"Frenesi" choreography for Modern Dance Company Djazzex, Holland.

"The Cakewalk" and "The Lindy-Hop" (collaboration with Jeanefer Jean-Charles) for the Folklore Dance Theatre, Holland.

A choreography for the William Louther Memorial show, Cochrane Theatre, London.

"Brecht, a Foreign Affair" starring Gertrude Thoma, Tobias Tak, Martin Ritchie. Musical director Nicholas Bloomfield, director Boris Boskovic.
Performed at the Wimbledon Theatre, Southwark Playhouse and the Riverside Studios, London.

"Rhythm in Time", Collaboration with Sheron Wray for JazzXchange Dance Company. Venues included Cleo Laine and Johnny Dankworth's theatre The Stables, Covent Garden Opera House and the Lilian Baylis Theatre London.

A choreography commissioned by Weekend Arts College and Dance Umbrella for the Percussive Feet Festival, performed at the Cochrane Theatre London.

Tobias also taught and choreographed for many performing arts colleges, including: The Urdang Academy, Doreen Bird College, Margaret Howard Foundation, the University of London, Millennium Dance College, Balagan Theatre Company, Rotterdam Academy of Dance, Theatre School Amsterdam, and the Ballet Academy Gothenburg Sweden.
